DIY Ombre Dressers

DIY Ombre Painted Dresser Set

I’m very excited to share this one with you! If you were following along during the last six weeks, then you know that I was participating in the One Room Challenge to fix up my daughter’s Big Girl Bedroom. During the third week of the challenge, I introduced these adorable DIY Ombre Dressers and I’m SO excited to show you how easy it was to fix them up!

Here are the dressers we started with:

We found both dressers at a local thrift store in our town called Second Chance Furniture. They were made of wood and still had good bones, so they were perfect for a furniture flip. Plus, they had the EXACT same hardware that I had on my dressers when I was a little girl. I considered it a sign!

We started by choosing paint colours for the furniture. All of the paint colours were
Behr paints
from The Home Depot.

To begin, we painted the entire furniture piece with Vienna Lace. It’s the same colour that I used in my Magazine Rack Makeover, and I LOVED how it looked. It’s such a light, soft pink colour when it’s all painted.

Once the furniture was painted, we moved onto painting the drawers. We chose 4 pink colours that were different enough to stand out against one another, yet close enough to be in the same colour family.

It took some deliberation, but in the end we chose (from lightest to darkest): Funhouse, Wild Geranium, It’s a Girl, & Ballerina Tutu.

Dresser Paint Colours

The older design of the dresser had the drawers sliding in and out on wooden rails. That design didn’t allow  them to slide as nicely as modern dresser drawers so we decided to add Drawer Slides to help them glide open gently.

Finally, we added some nice hardward (to the top drawers only because fancy knobs are not cheap! lol), and the dressers were done!

I dig this, my daughter has a white dresser that needs a upgrade. You have inspired me to do this AND use the same colors to paint her white bed. Thank you. Have a great day. http://atmycounter.blogspot.com/2015/11/november-blog-date-dare.html

This is so cute and fun for a little girl's room! I'm amazed at all the things you accomplished while pregnant and with a toddler!! I also wanted new knobs for my nursery dresser but all the ones I loved were like 12$ each..womp womp

I know! Aren't those knobs crazily overpriced?! Ours were about $8 each, which is why we only bought three, lol. Crazy high costs. Glad you like the dressers :)
