One Room Challenge {Week Three}: The Most Productive Week Ever

One Room Challenge Week Three

Welcome to week three of the amazing One Room Challenge!  This six week challenge is hosted by Calling It Home, and is definitely a challenge! I’ve been spending a few weeks crazily planning and renovating my daughter’s big girl bedroom.  If you want to catch up, you can read about my Big Girl Bedroom Design here, and our first week of projects here! Now, time to see the results of our most productive week ever!

feature wall before

Last week we finished painting and painting and painting some more. So this week, we were ready to complete our feature wall! This is probably the part of the room that I’ve been most excited for! A full tutorial will follow soon, but for now, I just wanted to highlight the amazing end results.

We used this Clouds Allover stencil by Cutting Edge Stencils.

But we decided to use a variety of colours, so we chose a light gray for the background of the feature wall, and then we painted the clouds with dark gray, light pink, dark pink, and white (I’ll share the specific colours this week!).

Here’s the end result:

I’m SO in LOVE with these little clouds.

If you remember from last week, we found these cute little thrifted dressers, and I knew immediately that I wanted to recreate some of the ombre furniture I’ve seen on Pinterest lately.

So I took some of the same pink tones out of the cloud wall, and painted the dressers. I LOVE the pink tones, and so does my daughter :) I promise that they won’t stay side-by-side when the bedroom is completed!

I also picked up this amazing mirror last week when I was thrifting, and all it needed was one amazing coat of paint to help it fit the decor!

I removed the mirror, then wiped it down with TSP, and then used a big paint brush for the larger outline of the mirror, as well as a small paint brush for the tiny details.

The mirror doesn’t look quite as pink against the dark floor, but just wait until you see it against her freshly painted white walls!

Aside from all of this, we also purchased a bunk bed (which we haven’t assembled), and made a trip to Idea that resulted in a handful of amazing faux plants (the only kind you can put in a little girl’s room…), a pink rug, and cute pink and green accessories from Ikea. I’ll try to take a picture of some of them for next week!

If you remember, this was my mood board for the room:

Big girl bedroom inspiration

It turns out that the room is taking an unexpected turn for the whimsical! I’m sticking to the same colour palette, but seeing the clouds on the wall has inspired me with new, slightly more whimsical, ideas for her bedroom hooks and bedroom art. Stay tuned!

That mirror is gorgeous! We had that same mirror at my house when I was a kid in that same gold color!
