Is there anything cuter than watching your little girl play mom? Watching her imitate everything you do? Feeding baby, putting baby to bed, singing baby a lullaby. Melts my heart!  If you have a little one, this DIY will definitely get some use as she pretends to be a mommy. I made this adorable doll crib bedding set for my daughter to use in her baby doll’s crib, and I’m thrilled with how cute the blanket, pillow, and pillow case turned out!

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me post this photo of my vintage fabrics that use to belong to my great grandmother. They were my inspiration for this doll crib set! Here’s everything you need…

Blanket:
13 x 19″ Patterned Cotton Fabric
13 x 19″ Matching Solid Cotton Fabric
Matching thread

Pillow:
12 x 9″ White cotton
White thread
Stuffing

Pillow Case:
13 x 10″ Patterned Cotton Fabric (same as above)
8 x 6.5″ Solid Cotton Fabric (as above)
Matching thread

How to Make Your Doll Crib Bedding Set:

*NOTE* All fabric sizes may vary. These measurements were based on our doll cradle of 12″ x 18″*

Sewing baby doll crib bedding

Starting with the blanket, cut your two 13″ x 9″ fabrics, and pic them together, good sides in the centre.

Next, sew around the edges of the fabric, with a 3/8″ seam allowance, leaving a few inches on one edge open. When you are done sewing, pull the fabric through the hole you left open. Now your blanket should have the “good” sides on the outside.

Next, stitch around the outside of the fabric on the good side. I used a VERY small seam allowance and just tried to stay on the edge of the fabric.

Next, I didn’t want my blanket to pull apart easily, so I drew two rectangles into the centre of my blanket, using fabric chalk. Then I stitched directly on top of the measured boxes. It almost gives it a quilted feel, but this is the easiest quilting you’ll ever do! lol.

Next, pillows!

Pillows for baby doll crib bedding

Cut two pieces of 6″ x 9″ cotton. Sew all the way around with a 3/8″ seam allowance, leaving a small hole at one end. Pull the fabric through that hole and then stuff the pillows full of stuffing. Sew the last end up and you’re done! Two nice white pillows for your doll crib!

Finally, it’s time to whip up a nice pillow case for your doll crib set.

Preparing to sew pillow cases for doll crib bedding

Start by cutting two pieces of 6.5″ x 9.5″ fabric, and two pieces of 4″ x 6.5″ fabric (for the edge of the pillow case). You’ll notice that the entire piece is 1/2″ wider on both sides than the pillow we just made.

Sewing pillowcases for baby doll crib bedding

To start, you have to fold that 4″ x 6.5″ in half. You want the good side up, and the 6.5″ x 9.5″ solid cotton piece right inside the folded piece. I made my edges so that I had about 1.25″ of fabric showing on the top and bottom, the rest was folded underneath, as in the photo below. Pin all of this in place carefully before sewing.

Sewing pillowcases

Sew across the bottom of the edging fabric (as below). You should be sewing through 5 thin layers of fabric here, one layer of purple, and 4 layers of patterned edge fabric. After sewing across, the edge piece should be attached. Repeat this with the other two pieces of fabric.

Then, take your two finished sides, and line them up, good sides together. Make sure that the edges of the patterned edge piece line up perfectly and pin them in place. Sew around the two sides, and the bottom edge with a 3/8″ seam allowance. Clean up the edges, and pull it inside out to fit perfectly over top of your pillow!

I can remember, I used to make pillows for my dolls when I was just 8 years old. I don't know where I learned to make them. The ones you made are cute! Thanks for linking up to the Bloggers Brags Pinterest Party. I have pinned your post to the Bloggers Brags Pinterest Board.
